The c8in.xlarge is a compute-optimized AWS EC2 instance: 4 vCPU and 8 GiB of memory, 2.00 GiB per vCPU. In the name, "c" stands for compute, "8" is the generation, "in" marks Intel processors and enhanced networking and "xlarge" is the size within the c8in family. It runs on Intel Xeon Scalable (Granite Rapids) at 3.9 GHz, and AWS introduced it in April 2026. AWS has since shipped c9g; c9g.xlarge is the direct replacement at this size. Rackspace Spot's ch.vs2.large is a like-for-like substitute at 4 vCPU and 8 GiB, about 92% below the US East (N. Virginia) on-demand rate.
