The c8id.large is a compute-optimized AWS EC2 instance: 2 vCPU and 4 GiB of memory, 2.00 GiB per vCPU. In the name, "c" stands for compute, "8" is the generation, "id" marks Intel processors and local NVMe storage and "large" is the size within the c8id family. It runs on Intel Xeon Scalable (Granite Rapids) at 3.9 GHz, and AWS introduced it in February 2026. AWS has since shipped c9g; c9g.large is the direct replacement at this size. Rackspace Spot's ch.vs2.medium is a like-for-like substitute at 2 vCPU and 4 GiB, $0.111/hr on AWS in US East (N. Virginia), from $0.002/hr on Rackspace Spot.
