r7i.large is AWS's memory-optimized EC2 size at 2 vCPU and 16 GiB. In the name, "r" stands for RAM, "7" is the generation, "i" marks Intel processors and "large" is the size within the r7i family. It runs on Intel Xeon Scalable (Sapphire Rapids) at 3.2 GHz, and AWS introduced it in October 2023. AWS has since shipped r8i and r9g; r8i.large is the direct replacement at this size. On Rackspace Spot the same shape is mh.vs2.medium — 2 vCPU, 16 GiB, matched on both dimensions, about 92% below the US East (N. Virginia) on-demand rate.
