The r6i.large is a memory-optimized AWS EC2 instance: 2 vCPU and 16 GiB of memory, 8.00 GiB per vCPU. In the name, "r" stands for RAM, "6" is the generation, "i" marks Intel processors and "large" is the size within the r6i family. It runs on Intel Xeon 8375C (Ice Lake) at 3.5 GHz, and AWS introduced it in November 2021. AWS has since shipped r7i, r8i and r9g; r7i.large is the direct replacement at this size, scoring 48,385 CoreMark/s against this instance's 36,254 — roughly 33% more throughput for the same vCPU count. Rackspace Spot's mh.vs2.medium is a like-for-like substitute at 2 vCPU and 16 GiB, about 91% below the US East (N. Virginia) on-demand rate.
