The m9gd.2xlarge is a general-purpose AWS EC2 instance: 8 vCPU and 32 GiB of memory, 4.00 GiB per vCPU. In the name, "m" is the general-purpose line, "9" is the generation, "gd" marks AWS Graviton (ARM) processors and local NVMe storage and "2xlarge" is the size within the m9gd family. It runs on AWS Graviton5 Processor at 3.3 GHz, and AWS introduced it in June 2026. m9gd is the current generation of the m family, so there is no newer AWS size to migrate to. Rackspace Spot's gp.vs2.xlarge is a like-for-like substitute at 8 vCPU and 32 GiB, about 94% below the US East (N. Virginia) on-demand rate.
