The m8in.4xlarge is a general-purpose AWS EC2 instance: 16 vCPU and 64 GiB of memory, 4.00 GiB per vCPU. In the name, "m" is the general-purpose line, "8" is the generation, "in" marks Intel processors and enhanced networking and "4xlarge" is the size within the m8in family. It runs on Intel Xeon Scalable (Granite Rapids) at 3.9 GHz, and AWS introduced it in April 2026. AWS has since shipped m9g; m9g.4xlarge is the direct replacement at this size, scoring 575,195 CoreMark/s against this instance's 371,632 — roughly 55% more throughput for the same vCPU count. Rackspace Spot's gp.vs2.2xlarge is a like-for-like substitute at 16 vCPU and 64 GiB, $1.34/hr on AWS in US East (N. Virginia), from $0.041/hr on Rackspace Spot.
