The m7i.2xlarge is a general-purpose AWS EC2 instance: 8 vCPU and 32 GiB of memory, 4.00 GiB per vCPU. In the name, "m" is the general-purpose line, "7" is the generation, "i" marks Intel processors and "2xlarge" is the size within the m7i family. It runs on Intel Xeon Scalable (Sapphire Rapids) at 3.2 GHz, and AWS introduced it in August 2023. AWS has since shipped m8i and m9g; m8i.2xlarge is the direct replacement at this size, scoring 196,858 CoreMark/s against this instance's 163,374 — roughly 20% more throughput for the same vCPU count. Rackspace Spot's gp.vs2.xlarge is a like-for-like substitute at 8 vCPU and 32 GiB, about 92% below the US East (N. Virginia) on-demand rate.
