The m5a.2xlarge is a general-purpose AWS EC2 instance: 8 vCPU and 32 GiB of memory, 4.00 GiB per vCPU. In the name, "m" is the general-purpose line, "5" is the generation, "a" marks AMD processors and "2xlarge" is the size within the m5a family. It runs on AMD EPYC 7571 at 2.5 GHz, and AWS introduced it in November 2018. AWS has since shipped m6a, m7a, m8a and m9g; m6a.2xlarge is the direct replacement at this size, scoring 169,106 CoreMark/s against this instance's 101,266 — roughly 67% more throughput for the same vCPU count. Rackspace Spot's gp.vs1.xlarge is a like-for-like substitute at 8 vCPU and 32 GiB, about 91% below the US East (N. Virginia) on-demand rate.
